Meet The Team

Our Chief Executive, Steve Locke is the son in-law of Michael Cripwell and has been with the company since 1987.  Starting as an Electrician, working his way up to Site Manager and then Director before being appointed as Managing Director and then Chief Executive.  Steve has a strong desire to ensure that the C.B.S. brand remains synonymous with quality.  As C.B.S. has developed, Steve’s time is largely dominated by office duties, although he still maintains personal contact with clients and visits sites on a regular basis.  Steve was appointed Chief Executive in September 2011

Len Harper is another example of C.B.S.’ stability, as a main board Director Len started with the company as an apprentice in 1977.  He is also very much hands on, heading the public buildings and term contracts side of the business.  His professional, but amenable approach to business has helped forge long term relationships with many key clients.  Len was appointed Managing Director in September 2011.

Carl Dent is the youngest of our board Directors and again joined the company as an apprentice in 1986.  A self confessed workaholic, his dedication to C.B.S.’ and its client’s is paralleled only by his dedication to C.B.S.’ Apprentice training scheme.  Again, he is very much in the thick of things, directly overseeing projects and maintenance division.

Our major projects division is led by Richard Armes who did not start as an apprentice, but has been with the business since 1995.  Having started as an Electrician, Richard went on to manage an extremely successful term contract at Acordis Chemical’s for 7 years, before taking on the role of Major Projects Director.  His level headed structured approach to contracting ensures that C.B.S. proivde quaity and service throughout the project.

The latest recruit to our team of Directors is our Financial Director Victoria Thomas.  Financial planning and security is paramount to any business and it is essential that clients have the confidence that the company has the financial stability to complete the project.  Victoria has gained experience not only as a partner in a large accountancy firm, but also from many years in the construction industry.  Her organised and professional approach will ensure that C.B.S. is here to stay.

David runs the mechanical division and has been a key factor in the growth of our mechanical business, operating independently, or as a co-ordinated M&E Package.  David has a strong design & build background and is committed to quality installations and obtaining repeat business.

Bruce works in our London Office and is a very experienced and well connected Development Manager, who has successfully operated in the South East for many years.
