C.B.S. delivered the electrical installation to the new purpose-built police station in Southampton, which delivers an efficient and effective working environment through forward-thinking design. The new station also represents a positive architectural contribution to the city, helping to promote an approachable and friendly image for the Police Force.
The Operational Command Unit is a landmark 8 storey building, located on the edge of Southampton city centre. The scheme comprises of a new police station, a custody suite to accommodate 42 cells and a new headquarters building to command police operations in the city.
The new Southampton Operations Command Unit (OCU) was a ‘develop and construct’ project and was procured using the SECE (now IESE) major framework and involved the early engagement of Kier and its novated design team in the project process.
The principal aim of the project was to provide Hampshire Constabulary with a landmark building that reflects the professionalism of the operational service.
The building provides a custom building facility that amalgamates several satellite Police Stations in the Southampton area.
